The Luton Community First Responders have been awarded a grant from the Angus Brewer Community Fund. Community first responders are volunteers who are trained by the East of England Ambulance Service to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work. They aim to reach potential life threatening emergency situations in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.
The Luton team are based in Caddington and this grant will enable them to buy a second kit, doubling the number of calls they are able to respond to. A first responder kit includes a defibrillator, an oxgyen cylinder, a pulse oximeter and a mobile phone.
Anthony Frankland and Rebecca Harwood from the Luton CFR team said, "We would like to say a huge thank you to the Angus Brewer Community Fund for supporting us in purchasing our new dual responder kit! This will enable our CFR's to attend more calls simultaneously providing a better response time and service to the community!"
